Big Basin / Cutter-to-the-Sea - May 4-6, 2012

Scout-in-charge: Austin Browning
Scoutmaster: Brent Browning
Coordinator: Larry Przywara

What: Camping at Big Basin, Mountain Bike Cutter-to-the-Sea
Why: First Year Skills and Mountain Biking
Who: All Scouts (mountain biking is for main troop only)
Cost: $40/person or $50/person for bikers

Come join us for a camping in beautiful Big Basin Redwoods State Park.  Main troop scouts will have the opportunity to ride an 18-mile downhill mountain bike ride from Cutter Scout Reservation all the way down to the sea to Año Nuevo State Park.  First year scouts will work on skills training and testing and then take a short day hike in the park

NOTE: In order to mountain bike you must have ridden Monte Bello previously OR attend a training ride (4/15 or 4/29).  This ride is 18 miles in length total with 10 miles down a steep fire road with many ruts, ditches, tree roots, and rocks.  You must have intermediate level bike handling skills on dirt trails in order to successfully navigate this trail.  This trail is rough and fun, are you up to the challenge?!?!

Space is limited to 40 people for this trip, we have 5 campsites and each one holds up to 8 people.

We are in campsites 52H, 53H, 55H, 57H, and 60H in the Huckleberry Campground area.
