Route

Intermediate

Round trip of ~10 miles starting at BSA Camp Pico Blanco using the Little Sur Trail to to Pico Blanco Public Camp.  One guidebook writes, "A quick, 100-foot stroll upstream from camp lies a waterfall oasis, widely considered one of the most beautiful spots in the Ventana Wilderness. You’ll arrive at a deeply eroded marble gorge that enfolds a deep emerald swimming hole. At best, the water reaches the mid-50s Farenheit, making your swim brisk, refreshing, and likely brief. The midday to early afternoon sun warms the pool and adjacent boulders, though this may not be sufficient heat following your chilly swim. Return to camp to warm up."

Along the way we will pass through Ventana Camp @ 4.2 miles, Terrace Creek Camp @ 5.5 miles, and Barlow Flat Camp @ 6.8 miles, to our ultimate destination at Sykes Camp @ 9.5 miles.
