Yosemite Camping and Hiking - September 12, 2014

What: Yosemite Camping and Hiking
When: September 12 - 14, 2014
Who: All Troop 33 Scouts
Cost: $60
Activity Coordinator: Matt Raschke

Camp out and hike in beautiful Yosemite Valley.  Troop 33 has reserved 11 campsites in Upper Pines Campground.  Yosemite is an incredible location with amazing granite walls like El Capitan and Half Dome.  It is a national treasure, and only a few hours away.

One activity available is a hike to the top of Half Dome.  Troop 33 has obtained permits for this hike, but only scouts and adults in top hiking shape should sign up for this activity.  It is an extremely strenuous 16-mile hike, and the cable route up and down Half Dome is dangerous.  Scoutmaster approval will be required for all Half Dome hikers on this trip.

Many other hiking activities are available, and all are spectacular.  At least one additional strenuous hike is proposed: Clouds Rest (a one-way 17-mile hike from Tenaya Lake down into the valley, summiting a ridge higher than Half Dome).

Fishing is also a possible activity, but you must have your own gear.  Adults and Scouts over 16 must also have a valid fishing license.
