This activity is all-day fishing trip for rockfish on the charter boat "Queen of Hearts" out of Half Moon Bay.  Also, this trip can serve as requirement 9 for the Fishing Merit Badge, which is catch and cook a fish to eat.

Expect sea sickness - bring your own remedy.  Parents can administer at LAUMC before the drive.

Attendees need to bring a bag lunch.  Bait and Tackle is not included, but can be rented/purchased at Pillar Point.  Anyone over 16 will need to buy or bring a valid fishing license.

Things to bring:

  1. Your 10 Essentials
  2. Class B Uniform
  3. Layered clothing - be prepared for cool weather in the morning, possible wind, and possible warmer temperatures during the day.
  4. Water/other drinks, snacks/lunch - there is no food for purchase on the boat.
  5. Sunscreen, perhaps your favorite seasickness remedy.
  6. Money - $10 plus tax for tackle, $10 for rod rental, $10 to have fish filleted/cleaned, other money for snacks after the day

  1. We meet at the LAUMC parking lot this Sunday morning at 5 AM, check-in, determine rides, and drive to  Pillar Point Harbor just north of Half Moon Bay.
  2. Once there, we need to go into the Sportfishing shop and get rods, tackle and fishing licenses for everyone 16 and older.
  3. Take the fishing tackle and our gear for the day to the Queen of Hearts and board.
  4. Fish all day!
  5. Once done, get our catches cleaned, get ourselves and our gear back in the cars, and head home.
  6. We should be home before 5 PM, but the exact time will depend on when the boat returns to the harbor.
