Who: All Scouts with mountain biking experience

Santa Cruz mountain area is a wonderful scenery for mountain biking. You will have the opportunity to ride a 35+ mile downhill mountain bike ride from Cutter Scout Reservation all the way down to the sea at Waddell Beach.

NOTEThis ride is 35 miles in length total down a steep fire road with many ruts, ditches, tree roots, and rocks.  You must have intermediate level bike handling skills on dirt trails in order to successfully navigate this trail.  This trail is rough and fun, are you up to the challenge?!
  • Limit of 20 scouts
  • Prerequisites:
    • Previous Troop 33 cycling experience required
      • 50 miler from Los Altos to San Francisco or
      • 25 or 50 miles Coyote Creek Cycling Classic or
      • Monte Bello down hill or
      • Previously attended one of the Monte Bello Training rides
  • Required gear
    • Helmet
    • Mountain Bike
    • Hybrid (No road bikes)
  • Parents - We need
    • Experienced adult cyclists to ride with the boys
    • Drivers for support vehicles and transportation Bike racks or U-haul for bicycles
    • Snack preparations at finish (Waddell Creek)

Agenda - Saturday November 7th

Mountain Bikers

7:00am - Meet at LAUMC
8:30am - Drivers drop off riders
12:00pm - 1:00pm - Bring your own sack lunch
1:00pm - continue Ride from Cutter-to-the-Sea
3:00pm - 4:00pm - Visit Waddell Creek Beach
4:00pm - 5:00pm - Depart for Home

  • Bike Helmet (no helmet, no ride)
  • 2L Water bottles or camelback
  • Windbreaker/jacket
  • Sack lunch for halfway vista of Ano Nuev
