The High Adventure Trip of a Lifetime!

Unofficially regarded as the 'Most Extreme High Adventure in Scouting', the Northern Expeditions 'Bissett' Base is the most rugged and remote region paddled by Northern Tier crews. Arrive at Base Camp and begin your adventure by boarding a float plane for a twenty-minute flight to a canoe cache in a pristine wilderness area paddled by only a handful of canoeists each year.

Explore the lakes, rivers, dense forests and wetlands of the Great Northwoods. Follow in the footsteps of the French-Canadian voyageurs. Enter the Gateway to Adventure!

Come nose to nose with a moose.

Crew is limited to 8 scouts and 3 adults and will be accompanied by an interpreter/guide. Bissett crews are typically older and have prior High Adventure experience. The area is very remote and travel can be strenuous.

To be eligible, you must be:
  • 14 years of age by the time you arrive at Northern Tier OR have graduated from 8th grade and be age 13 by the time you arrive.
  • At least 100 lb and no more than 295 lb in weight.
  • In excellent physical shape by Summer 2016. You'll be required to participate in a training program.
  • Classified as a BSA Swimmer prior to arrival.
  • Able to carry a heavy load (70+ lb) over steep, muddy, rugged portages.
  • A registered Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, or Venturer.
