Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge - April 23, 2017

 Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge
When: April 23, 2017
Who: Scouts 13 and older (requires Scoutmaster approval, limited to 8 Scouts!)
Cost: $70 (for ammo and clays)
Activity Coordinator: Shreenivasa Venkataramaiah

Scouts 13 or older who are interested in earning the Shotgun Shooting merit badge will have an opportunity to do so during a full-day class at Cutter Scout Reservation.  We will have the shotgun range all to ourselves.

For more information, please read the Shotgun Shooting merit badge requirements carefully.

NOTE: Scouts must shoot at least 48% (24 out of 50 targets) in order to qualify.  You are not guaranteed to qualify after just one day.  We will do our best to help you learn the fundamentals and coach you as you are learning.  It is very possible that you may receive a partial.  Not to worry!  If that happens I will work with you to find another time for you to practice and qualify.

NOTE: Age does not provide a guarantee that a Scout will have the maturity or strength to successfully complete this merit badge.  This merit badge is recommended for Scouts who are able to take instruction and make changes based on that instruction.  They must have patience since shooting a moving target that is ~40 yds away and moving at 30-40 mph requires skill.  A Scout should be strong enough to hold a 7-8 lb shotgun at arm's length.  I have many years of experience teaching Scouts and have had a lot of success getting Scouts to hit and qualify.

NOTE: Scouts must have Mr. Browning's approval before they are officially signed up for this class.  Sign up using the link above and then contact Mr. Browning for approval.
