Please join me in congratulating Troop 33 Eagle Scouts Nathaniel Wipfler and Zachary Ottoes. Zachary and Nathaniel were recently inducted into the Boy Scouts of America National Youth Leadership Society (NYLS) Class of 2015. The purpose of the NYLS is to “recognize youth members of the BSA who have learned and practiced outstanding leadership skills – the elite of our program.”

Nathaniel Wipfler served Troop 33 in key leadership positions of responsibility over several years, including Troop Guide (1 year), Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (6 months), and Senior Patrol Leader (1 year). Nathaniel served as Crew Leader for many high adventure trips including Philmont (2012), Northern Tier (2013), Mt. Whitney (2013), and Lost Coast (2015). This summer he attended the World Scout Jamboree in Japan as Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 303. Nathaniel currently serves Troop 33 as the Patrol Leader for the Adventure Patrol.

Nathaniel took advantage of the excellent leadership training courses offered by the Boy Scouts of America. He attended three week-long training courses: National Youth Leadership Training (Camp Chesebrough), Order of the Arrow National Leadership Seminar (Granlibakken), and National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (Philmont Scout Ranch).

While at the WSJ Nathaniel was interviewed by CNN International for a segment on the 70th anniversary of Hiroshima:

Nathaniel was also featured on the front page of the “Wa”, the WSJ daily newspaper:
