Scoutmaster update - December 10, 2012

posted Dec 10, 2012, 11:20 PM by Brent Browning
This past weekend 18 Scouts and 8 Adults were treated to an EPIC mountain bike ride. We went to Camp Tamarancho in Marin County and slept in their “adirondaks” (shelter with bunks for 8 people). We had a great window after the recent storms and the weather was perfect for the weekend. The trails were ADVANCED and it challenged everyone. We started out on steep fire roads in the morning that turned into some of the best singletrack (narrow trails with lots of switchbacks, rocks and tree roots) with some very technical riding. The trails were carpeted with freshly fallen evergreens, almost like riding through a Christmas tree lot... We had a few crashes along the way but no one was seriously hurt. After a lunch break back at camp everyone was ready to go back out for more. By the afternoon everyone was improving rapidly and really getting the hang of it. All-in-all a wonderful weekend.
