He is Troop 33’s latest Eagle scout. Troop 33 Eagles’ Nest.


Only three adult volunteer committee positions remain open

  1. Registrar: We have been fortunate to have Urmil cover this position for the last few years. We are preparing to transition this role to our next registrar. To do this, Urmil will have the new Registrar shadow him to train this year and possibly next. This person would be independent in this role after that.  Skills: This person should be detail oriented, organized and with some tech knowledge. Complete position description at this link.

  2. Equipment Coordinator: This person works with the scoutmaster and  committee chair to ensure the troop is equipped for the upcoming and future planned activities. Skills:This person should be organized and able to work with the scout Quartermaster and  appropriate ASMs and work with the Treasurer and handle the budget and expenses for equipment and get approvals for purchases through the Scoutmaster and Committee Complete position description at this link.

  3. Recruiting Coordinator: This person has the opportunity to sell our troop to potential members.  This is a great position for first year parents who still have connections to incoming cub scout leaders.  This person will shadow our current coordinators this year and will work independently starting next year.  This position works with the scoutmaster and committee chair and will maintain contacts with the cub scout leaders. Skills:  This person should have good positive energy and be enthusiastic about the troop, its leadership and activities with some marketing skills and some tech skills since the application process has been made electronic. Become a merit badge counselor. The troop needs you. And it is simple.

Parents -- we need your help! Scouts must earn a dozen (soon to be 13) Eagle-required merit badges. Our troop has been fortunate to have counselors for almost all of them, but with their sons graduating, we need new volunteers.  Becoming a counselor is simple!

  1. Read the requirements for a merit badge (see links below for each merit badge). If you could answer/do them you can be a counselor!

  2. Take the Merit Badge Counselor training class (Sept 10th -- mark your calendar)  

  3. Take the online Youth Protection Training

  4. Tell us which badges you can teach

  5. Start teaching!


Badges in order of greatest need for the troop are:

3.       Swimming

4.       Camping

5.       Cooking

6.       Citizenship in the Community

7.       Citizenship in the World

8.       Citizenship in the Nation

Activity Coordinator (AC) signups for the remainder of the year are now open at this link. To sign up for an activity, click edit on the left of the activity of your choosing, add your name to the "Activity Coordinator" column, then add your email and phone to appropriate column,  and

then click "Submit". Sign up early so you can get the activity of your choosing. Please note the Philmont activities will be  assigned to Philmont parents during the first crew meeting.

This Week

We will have SPL speeches followed by an SPL election.  After the election first year scouts will be working on food planning for a camping trip while main troop scouts will be doing a patrol re-alignment (see below) followed by patrol meetings and games.

Patrol Realignment – Tuesday 8/27

This applies to the main troop only.  This happens once a year and gives Scouts a chance to realign/reorganize if desired.  Here are the guidelines:

·         Patrols should be no more than 10-12 Scouts with a mix of ranks and ages

·         Patrols should include no more than 4-6 Scouts from a previous patrol, school, or friend group

·         Scouts will form buddy groups of 4-6 Scouts and then merge with other buddy groups until you reach 10-12

·         Patrol Advisors closely monitor and supervise the process

·         Scouts are strongly encouraged to attend this important event

·         Scouts who cannot attend can have a buddy save a spot

·         Scouts who do not attend will be placed into the “Unassigned” patrol

Spring PoR credit

All Scouts who held a PoR during the spring term (3/1-9/1) must contact their Patrol Advisor if they want to earn credit for time served.  Your Patrol Advisor will review your performance against the PoR rubric to see how you did.  He will then report the proper amount of credit to Mrs. Przywara.

Fall Term Leadership

Remember to sign up on the pink clipboard if you are interested.  The deadline is THIS Tuesday after which time the newly elected SPL will appoint his leadership.  Make sure you read the PoR rubric for the position[s] you are interested in.

Here is the schedule:

  • 8/27 – SPL Election & Patrol Realignment

  • 9/3 – PL Elections (followed by Court of Honor)

  • 9/8 – ILST (mandatory leadership training for ALL Scout leadership)

  • 9/10 – Leadership inductions

Court of Honor – Tuesday 9/3

Our first court of honor will be Tuesday 9/3.  This is traditionally a big one with lots of awards from the summer.  Families are encouraged to attend as we recognize our Scouts for their accomplishments.
