Yosemite

We are back from a fun and eventful weekend at Yosemite.  32 Scouts and 22 Adults went on a variety of hikes all over Yosemite Valley: Nevada Falls, Yosemite Falls, North Dome, and Half Dome.  One group had hail, another group had to escort a Scout who sprained his ankle, and the Half Dome group was turned around at the cables due to a weather advisory.  Saturday evening the skies opened up and we experienced rain.  Several Scouts had “lakefront” property.  Everyone rallied together, moved tents, got dry, put up tarps, and cooked dinner.  Everyone was safe and mostly dry.

A big thanks to Zachary Ottoes as our Scout-in-Charge, Peter Monaco for leading, and Matt Raschke for coordinating.

This Week

First Years - Scouts will continue to work on first aid requirements in Creekside as usual.

NOTE: Main Troop Scouts meet AT McKenzie Park for catapult competition, wear Class B!

Parents should plan to drop off their Scout at the McKenzie Park tennis court parking lot at 7:30pm and pick up the same place at 9:00pm.

Looking for an Eagle project?

I have been approached by several groups with a wide variety of opportunities:

  • Los Altos Little League has projects at Purissima, Hillview, Santa Rita, and other fields

  • Moffett Field Historical Society needs a database and a full inventory of their items

  • Shed for Girl Scout troop that meets at Almond Elementary

If you are interested please contact me and I will make an introduction for you.
