Scoutmaster Corner

Spring break is over for the majority of the Scouts, but we still have a good number that are just starting theirs, so Tuesday’s meeting is a “meeting-lite” that Scouts can take advance of to catch up on where they are for rank advancement, and possibly complete or get credit for merit badge requirements. It is the responsibility of the Scout to contact the merit badge counselor to ask they be present Tuesday to work on or complete a merit badge. Also, this is an opportunity for Patrol Leaders to have a patrol meeting to discuss potential patrol activities or outings, and to know where the Scouts in their patrol are in rank advancement status. It is one of rubric requirements to receive credit for their position of responsibility.

I am out of town all week, so Peter Stanley is taking over the Scoutmaster duties.

The First Year Program Scouts will conduct a regular meeting.

Patrol Leader’s Council (PLC) is Tuesday at 6pm, Room 9.

First Aid Merit Badge Volunteers needed!

Brent Browning, T33 ASM

If you have any background with first aid (Doctor/Nurse/EMT, Wilderness First Aid certification, CPR/AED training,  etc.) I NEED YOU!

I am planning on organizing a First Aid merit badge class this fall and need adult volunteers to help. My plan is to offer a class that spans several weekend sessions, each one lasting 2-3 hours with the goal of completing the First Aid Merit Badge. You do not need to be a merit badge counselor or be a licensed professional but you should have basic first aid knowledge. If you can do any of the requirements listed in the above link then you can help. I have coordinated the First Aid merit badge at the Council Merit Badge Midway for many years and have a lot of experience coordinating, organizing, and teaching this badge.

The classes filled up fast at summer camp and we have Scouts who need this badge so it would be nice to offer Troop 33 Scouts an opportunity to earn this Eagle-required merit badge.

Please email brent.browning@gmail.com if you can help.
