This past weekend, 12 Scouts braved the rainy weather and attended the Council’s Camporee at Cutter Scout reservation. The Scouts split into two patrols and had to complete at least 12 of 18 stations in a competition for the various stations and the overall event. After surviving the rain and wind of Friday night (and cold pizza for dinner), Saturday the rain stopped and the Scouts were able to participate in all the events. There was knot tying, tomahawk throwing, archery, fishing, first aid, .22 rifle shooting, and many more. There was also a Scout-themed Escape Room! The Scouts did very well and had a lot of fun.

Thanks to Casey Jones and Ben Tice as the two Patrol Leaders, Cameron Oates as the Scoutmaster-in-Charge, and Prachi Dandekar as the Activity Coordinator.  Also thanks to Adam Braun, Loui Daltchev and Matt Strum for going with us and providing support (and vehicles), and to the parents that drove Friday night and Sunday to make sure the Scouts could make it there and back again.

This Tuesday

Reminder:  There is no meeting this week, Tuesday, April 10th, and the meeting on Tuesday, April 17th will be a “meeting-light.” This will be a catch up meeting for Scouts to work on completing merit badges, work on rank advancement, or conduct patrol meetings. The First Year Program Scouts will conduct a regular meeting.

Patrol Leader’s Council (PLC) is next Tuesday at 6pm, Room 9.

First Aid Merit Badge Volunteers needed!

Brent Browning, T33 ASM

If you have any background with first aid (Doctor/Nurse/EMT, Wilderness First Aid certification, CPR/AED training,  etc.) I NEED YOU!

I am planning on organizing a First Aid merit badge class this fall and need adult volunteers to help. My plan is to offer a class that spans several weekend sessions, each one lasting 2-3 hours with the goal of completing the First Aid Merit Badge. You do not need to be a merit badge counselor or be a licensed professional but you should have basic first aid knowledge. If you can do any of the requirements listed in the above link then you can help. I have coordinated the First Aid merit badge at the Council Merit Badge Midway for many years and have a lot of experience coordinating, organizing, and teaching this badge.

The classes filled up fast at summer camp and we have Scouts who need this badge so it would be nice to offer Troop 33 Scouts an opportunity to earn this Eagle-required merit badge.

Please email if you can help.
