Scoutmaster Update

Chris Webb christopherawebb@comcast

Congratulations to the Beach Camping Crew for surviving the wind and rain Friday night/Saturday morning.  Saturday was a much better day, and in addition to having fun at the beach, they were able to work up to three hours removing non-indigenous plants and weeds from the beach area.  A big thank you to Jeff Mayer for leading this and Imran Qureshi for his role as the Activity Coordinator.

We need all equipment returned Tuesday, clean and properly packed, with any problems/missing pieces either attached on a label, or written on masking tape affixed to the piece of equipment.

Upcoming Activities:

Big City Trip – San Francisco, May 2nd

First Year Orienteering – Bedwell Park, Menlo Park, May 9th

Details

A one day trip to San Francisco that starts with a ride on the San Francisco Fire Department's Fire Boat on San Francisco Bay. Then it is over to Treasure Island for a demonstration by one of the SFFD's Fire Battalions or Companies at the training site on firefighter and rescue skills. Scouts will be able to participate in some activities. Following lunch at Treasure Island, we will head back to San Francisco's Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf area for activities and dinner.

Maximum participants is 30 Scouts and adults. The number of Scouts that attend will be dictated by the number of seats in the vehicles the driving adults have. To maximize the number of Scouts attending, only one adult (driver) per vehicle, and we need to have the maximum of seat-belts per vehicle going.

Sack lunch at Treasure Island, and money for dinner and Pier 39 (not included in the $20.00 fee).

Weather on San Francisco Bay can be quite cold, and as we will be on a boat, wet, so be sure to bring appropriate cold weather gear (layers, layers, layers!).

Give your check and required forms to Mrs. Mein at Tuesday's meeting, April 28th.
