Scoutmaster Update

Chris Webb christopherawebb@comcast

21 Scouts participated in Scout Sunday at LAUMC this past Sunday, ranging from usher duties to being an Acolyte, Bible Readings, Offertories– Prayers of Dedication, and speeches.  It was a great turn out and represented Troop 33 very well to the church and its congregation.  Alan Cyron gave the church a financial gift for the building and infrastructure fund for our 65th year supported by the church.  Big thanks you’s to Max Baler, Chaplain’s Aide and Scout-in-Charge, John Vastano, Troop 33/LAUMC Chartered Organization Representative, Alan Cyron and Peter Stanley, and to all the Scouts for providing service and testimony.

February 14th will be a presentation for Scouts eligible for National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) by Scouts that have attended this training.  I will be sending notification messages to those Scouts and their parents this week.  Look for those e-mails…

Quite a number of Scouts participated in the PACSKY Council Merit Badge Midway on Saturday.  If any Scout completed a merit badge, be sure to have any uniformed leader (ASM) sign the blue card to verify you completed it so you can turn the card into Mrs. Townsend at Tuesday’s (or any other Tuesday) meeting.

Reminder!  Winter break starts on Tuesday, February 21, right after the President’s Day holiday and there is no meeting that week.

This Tuesday

Tomorrow night is the Senior Patrol Leader election, and we need a strong turn out by all Troop Scouts to properly run the election.  All Scouts in the Troop participate in the SPL election.

First Year Scouts continue completing First Class requirements before the end of their training year.  Main Troop will be completing Part Two of the video project.

Green Bar has its Patrol Leader Council Tuesday, 6 – 7:15 pm in Room 9, LAUMC.

Snow Camping-Caving March 4-6.

If you like beautiful nature hikes and getting to look at cute baby animals, this is the activity for you!  On Saturday, March 18, we will be going to Ano Nuevo state park,  where the northern elephant seals come ashore every year to mate & give birth.  We will take a docent-guided walking tour of the breeding grounds to see the elephant seals (adult & baby) in their natural habitat.  This is a 2.5 hour walking tour over 3 miles of moderately strenuous terrain (sand, sloping terrain, etc).  It is a beautiful park and a unique opportunity to see these amazing animals.

If you are interested in this activity, PLEASE sign up SOON.  SPACES ARE LIMITED!! We can only take about 20 scouts and 4-5 adults.  Don't wait too long and miss this wonderful opportunity! Sign up here.
