Feb 25 Scoutmaster Induction Ceremony

Scoutmaster Update

Brent Browning

Yet another fun-filling Scouting weekend!

On Saturday 10 Scouts and 2 Adults removed non-native, invasive weeds at Shoreline.

Over the weekend 23 Scouts and 9 Adults from three Philmont-bound crews backpacked up Stevens Canyon and setup at the Black Mountain backpack camp.  Right around dinner time the wind and dense fog set in.  We took a night hike to the top of Black Mountain and could barely see our own hands in front of us.  Like a bunch of miners with headlamps heading into the darkness we turned back around and hunkered down for the night just before the rain started.  It rained until 4am and then we had clear skies and a beautiful day of hiking Sunday.  We ended up at Alice’s Restaurant on Skyline for lunch.  A great outing and successful second shakedown.

This is the winter break for our school districts so NO MEETING tonight.

Scoutmaster Induction Ceremony: Tuesday February 25th

Reminder: Need some scouting gear? Have something you no longer need? Read on…

Scouts and parents:

  • Do you have outdoor gear that is still in great condition but outgrown or no longer needed?

  • Would you be interested in selling it to another scout?

We bet there is a lot of gear in our storage that is no longer in use. We'd like to find out if there is enough interest in selling and buying to set aside time during a Tuesday meeting later this month or in March as a gear flea market.

Please think about your outgrown/unused gear and think about your needs for spring and summer hiking and camping. Then fill out the survey here.

Any questions, contact Matthew Schueren (
