WANTED - Patrol Leaders & Troop Guides!

We have three first year patrols joining the main troop.  Many of the Scouts are still working on their Second Class and First Class requirements and will need help to advance.  If you are First Class or higher, need PoR credit, and are willing to join one of their patrols to help them advance we need you!  We have openings for 3 Patrol Leaders and 3 Troop Guides (1 set for each patrol).  Email Mr. MacLeod if you are interested.  You will need to show up every meeting, get to know the Scouts, and be willing to make an extra effort to help them advance by planning outings and attending campouts.

Order of the Arrow Elections

The Order of the Arrow is Scouting’s National Honor Society.  It recognizes Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives.  This year we have a very impressive list of 32 Scouts eligible for OA elections.  This is an incredible testament to the active participation of our Scouts.  Last year 29 Scouts were eligible, 10 were elected, and 6 attended an OA Ordeal.  See http://troop33.org/oa for more information about the OA.

PoR credit

If you have served in a leadership position for the past 6 months you have one more responsibility.  You need to talk with your Patrol Advisor to review your performance against the rubric for your position.  He will then determine how much credit you will earn.

Progress Reports

Over the weekend I sent email to all Scouts and their parents with their progress reports.  If you did not receive a report please let me know.  Please take a look to see what requirements you need to complete to advance to the next rank.  If you have any questions please work directly with your Patrol Advisor.  See http://troop33.org/leadership for a list of Patrol Advisors.  If you don’t know which patrol you are in see http://troop33.org/roster and attend more meetings!  If you are listed as “Unassigned” you should join a patrol and attend more meetings!

Shake down ride for the "Los Altos to San Francisco Bike Ride" - Sunday February 23.

Sunday February 23rd. 2014, 12 scouts and 9 adults started the shake down ride from LAUMC to Woodside and back. This ride was in preparation for the "Los Altos to San Francisco" 50 miler. It was a beautiful Sunday morning with lots of other cyclists on the road. One flat tire was the only damage we can note. It looks like we are ready to take on the real challenge.

More information on the "Los Altos to San Francisco" 50 miler can be found here.
