Feb 12: Scout Sunday

Scoutmaster Update

Chris Webb christopherawebb@comcast

February is a rare month for Troop 33 as we do not have activities scheduled for the weekends.  That is partially due to winter break in the middle of a short month, and that sometimes many activities cannot happen in February.  So, I have nothing to report.  Hopefully, you enjoyed the Super Bowl!

Tomorrow is the last day to get your entry in for the Troop 33 65th logo competition.

The next term for Positions of Responsibility starts March 1st, so you can sign up now at the Troop meetings.  Senior Patrol Leader election is February 14th.  Patrol Leader elections are February 28th.  Mandatory ILST for newly elected and appointed office holders is Sunday, March 12th, 1 – 4 pm.

First Year Program parents – At tomorrow’s meeting, Alan Cyron and I will be providing you a transition presentation into the main Troop.  We will cover what the changes will be for your Scouts, what to expect and how you can help.

February 14th will be a presentation for Scouts eligible for National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) by Scouts that have attended this training.  I will be sending notification messages to those Scouts and their parents this week.  Look for those e-mails…

This Tuesday

First Year Scouts continue completing First Class requirements before the end of their training year.  Main Troop will be conducting Part 1 of the film making process.

Ano Nuevo Activity is Open for Sign-Ups!

Caroline Tice ctice42@gmail.com

If you like beautiful nature hikes and getting to look at cute baby animals, this is the activity for you!  On Saturday, March 18, we will be going to Ano Nuevo state park,  where the northern elephant seals come ashore every year to mate & give birth.  We will take a docent-guided walking tour of the breeding grounds to see the elephant seals (adult & baby) in their natural habitat.  This is a 2.5 hour walking tour over 3 miles of moderately strenuous terrain (sand, sloping terrain, etc).  It is a beautiful park and a unique opportunity to see these amazing animals.

If you are interested in this activity, PLEASE sign up SOON.  SPACES ARE LIMITED!! We can only take about 20 scouts and 4-5 adults.  Don't wait too long and miss this wonderful opportunity! Sign up here.
