Feb 12: Scout Sunday

Scoutmaster Update

Chris Webb christopherawebb@comcast

This weekend, 30 Scouts and five Scout leaders ventured to Boulder Creek Scout Reservation for the Trail-to-First-Class campout.  The Scouts selected their tent sites and set up their tents, then went on a 5-mile hike where they learned much of the flora and fauna, as well has the logging history of BCSR on the Nature and Historical Trails.  After the hike, they worked on lashings and then made their dinners.  It was cold Saturday night and dropped to 31 degrees by Sunday morning, but the Scouts were in great spirits, made their breakfasts, packed up and cleaned the campsite, and we were all back by noon Sunday.  Huge thanks to Jon Meyer as the Activity Coordinator setting up and coordinating all the details.  Jon did a great job for his first activity.  Also thanks to James Pampeyan as the Scout-in-Charge, Tom Poppitz and Peter Stanley, co-Scoutmaster-in-Charge, and Craig Pampeyan for his usual support and comradery.

Sunday was the Eagle Court of Honor for Ryan Biesty, Noh Herman, Kai Jarmon, Anthony Mein and Matthew Mellea.  It was a wonderful ceremony and celebration for these young men as they achieved the highest rank and honor for Boy Scouts.  Thank you’s all around to Kimberley Dickerson, Robert Bowden, Alan Cyron, Laurie Hartford, Tanya Maluf, the Scout Honor Guard and First Year Scouts for their parts of the flag detail and candle ceremony.  Congratulations to our newest Eagle Scouts!

There is one week left for the Troop 33 65th logo competition.  Be sure to get your entry in to me by next Tuesday, February 7th.
