Welcome all new First Year Program Scouts, parents and families to Troop 33!  We are very happy and thrilled to having your joined the Troop 33 family and look forward to many fun and exciting adventures together!

I want to take this opportunity to remind both Scouts and parents of the importance of not only wearing the Scout uniform, but wearing it properly.  Properly means the uniform fits and is clean, it has the appropriate patches to include the patch of office (and if you are no longer in a position of responsibility, that patch of office is removed – it is not fair to the Scout that now occupies that position that someone else is wearing it too) and the current rank, neckerchief with slide or using a friendship knot (or Scout bolo tie), Scout pants or shorts with belt or self-belt, and Scout socks.  The green BSA baseball-style hat is optional by highly encouraged for First Year Scouts (it identifies them as “Firsties”), and optional for Main Troop Scouts. Hats and outerwear should be of a BSA nature (e.g.: Scout camp or event related). If you come to a meeting wearing another type of hat or jacket/sweatshirt to the meeting, that is OK, but you will need to leave them off during the meeting because putting them back on makes you not in uniform anymore.  Be proud of being a Boy Scout and what the uniform represents.

   Members of the Order of the Arrow – Tuesday’s meeting is an official OA event (OA Call-Out), so be sure to wear your OA sash! INCORRECT - OA Call-Out is March 20th. Do not wear sash tonight.

For Scouts newly elected or appointed to a Position of Responsibility that missed the ILST training on Sunday, March 4th, an abbreviated session will be taught on Tuesday, March 27th from 6 – 7:15 pm in Room 9, LAUMC.

Following announcements, Scouts in new Positions of Responsibility that did not get sworn-in at last week’s meeting will conduct their oath, and then we will hold the OA Call-Out for Scouts elected on February 27th.  Election results were not announced after the election, so if you were on the eligibility list, you will want to be at the meeting to find out if you will be called out.

Main Troop – The theme for March is Camping, and Scouts will be conducting a timed Camping Gear Competition: Patrol Box unpack/pack; Tent erect/put away; Camping Stove - Boil Water.

First Year Program Scouts start into their requirements for earning the Scout rank.

We will cover route selection, additional costs, upcoming hike and needs for more adult support.

Scouts wanting a Board of Review should send Mrs. Stanley at marilynb@stanford.edu a note before the deadline.  Scouts are encouraged to request their own review.
