Friday night was the Stanford District Annual Dinner where special awards are presented to Boy Scouts and adult volunteers. Due to the size of our Troop, we are able to nominate three Scouts and three adults. I am very pleased to announce our three Scouts of the Year, Justin Cai, James Pampeyan and Benjamin Tice, and our three Flame of Leadership adult volunteer awardees, Julie Crane, Brian Mellea and Tom Poppitz. Please be sure to congratulate them when you see them at a meeting or activity. We are very proud of our Scouts and adult volunteers!

Saturday and Sunday, the First Year Program Scouts went to the Boulder Creek Scout Reservation for their first campout. They were able to set up their tents in the rain, earn their Totn’ Chip and Firem’n Chit cards, and complete many requirements for rank advancement. They cooked their own Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast, participated in a campfire program conducted by Arjun Shivkumar, who led an excellent and fun program, slept in their tents in the rain, and put their tents away in the rain. Did I mention that it rained at Boulder Creek? Many thanks to Leslie Becker for all the support and form collecting as the Activity Coordinator, Tom Poppitz as the Scoutmaster-in-Charge, Bryan Webb as the Scout-in-Charge, and the Troop Guides for doing a great job teaching and managing their patrols.

Also thanks to Erik Kargas, Jeff DeAngelis and Alan Cyron for conducting the training and providing help throughout the weekend, and to the parents who drove on Saturday and Sunday.

Reminder - For Scouts newly elected or appointed to a Position of Responsibility that missed the ILST training on Sunday, March 4th, an abbreviated session will be taught on Tuesday, March 27th from 6 – 7:15 pm in Room 9, LAUMC.

This Tuesday

Court of Honor for the whole Troop. Following the CoH, the First Year Scouts will go to their training room to continue working on rank advancement requirements. The Main Troop will break into their patrols to conduct patrol activities to include go over their requirements for rank advancement with their Patrol Advisors and Patrol Leaders, among other patrol issues.

Scouts will not be leaving after the Court of Honor in order to conduct their patrol meetings. Plan on the meeting ending at the normal time – 9 pm.

First Aid Merit Badge Volunteers needed!

Brent Browning, T33 ASM

If you have any background with first aid (Doctor/Nurse/EMT, Wilderness First Aid certification, CPR/AED training,  etc.) I NEED YOU!

I am planning on organizing a First Aid merit badge class this fall and need adult volunteers to help. My plan is to offer a class that spans several weekend sessions, each one lasting 2-3 hours with the goal of completing the First Aid Merit Badge. You do not need to be a merit badge counselor or be a licensed professional but you should have basic first aid knowledge. If you can do any of the requirements listed in the above link then you can help. I have coordinated the First Aid merit badge at the Council Merit Badge Midway for many years and have a lot of experience coordinating, organizing, and teaching this badge.

The classes filled up fast at summer camp and we have Scouts who need this badge so it would be nice to offer Troop 33 Scouts an opportunity to earn this Eagle-required merit badge.

Please email if you can help.

TroopMaster Access for Parents and Scouts - Coming April 1st

Karen Townsend, T33 Advancement Coordinator

Troop 33 uses a web-based tracking system to record the rank advancements of our scouts. Until now, only Committee Members and ScoutMasters had access to this tool.  On April 1st, we will be granting access to parents and scouts, so that they may view their scouts' rank advancement status and view/edit their own personal information.  Please look for an auto-generated email that will provide you with your user ID and password and refer to for more info.

Reminder: Troop 33 has one more open committee position!

And we need your help. Please consider signing up for one of these open positions. Click the link to see a description of the position.
