Scoutmaster Update

Chris Webb christopherawebb@comcast

OK, here I go, a total pun on this weekend’s premier event – we had a blast!  33 Scouts and 11 adults stayed at Camp Pico Blanco, a BSA camp in the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, on the south fork of the little Sur River in Monterey County.  The Scouts were able to shoot rifles (low-power and high power), shotguns, pistols (low-power) and muzzle-loaders. NRA-certified instructors ran the ranges under the supervision of a BSA National Camping School Director who runs the ranges for Camp Pico Blanco.  The Scouts were also able to shoot arrows on the Archery Range, as well as throw tomahawks.  On the shotgun range, the Scouts were able to test their skills against four different types of traps, some with pleasant surprises.  The Scouts had a great time, showed how skilled they were, and followed all range instructions and safety requirements very well.  They prepared their own meals and enjoyed the great weather we had.  A very special thank you to Brent Browning for setting up the whole event with the shooting staff and Camp Pico Blanco, and to Rick Valestra for being the Activity Coordinator.  Also, thanks to the adults who drove, prepared the meals for the adults (yum, yum, yummy!), and overall help.  Finally a shout out to Brandon Le, Scout-in-Charge, for doing a great job with his Patrol Leaders to keep the Scouts moving to the events and being on time, cooking, and completing a great camp clean up at the end.

Reminder:  there is no Troop Meeting, Tuesday, April 7th due to Spring Break.
