Friday night, Troop 33 hosted the Stanford District for their annual District Recognition Dinner.  Thanks to all the planning and hard work of our Committee Chairman, Alan Cyron, everything went smoothly and we received many compliments at the end of the evening how well organized and supported the dinner was.  Many, many volunteers – adults and Scouts – helped out, and we couldn’t have done this without you.  Thank you very much!  Also, thanks to Andrew Marcopulos for opening and closed the dinner with the flag ceremony, and to the Scouts who were on the flag detail.

Friday night David McAllister and Bryan Webb were presented with their 2016 Scout of the Year awards, and Judy Bergwerk, Troop Treasurer, Deepak Jain, Tour Permit Coordinator, and Jun Kim, ASM, were presented with their Flame of Leadership awards.  Ted Marcopulos, Troop 33 ASM, passed his District Chairman duties to a new Chair after six years of exemplary service as he joins the Pacific Skyline Council as Vice-President of Programs. He was presented with a very nice parting gift by his district staff.

Saturday 30 First Year Scouts, five Troop Guides and bunches of parents went to Rancho San Antonio Preserve for their 5-mile hike.  Parking was a challenge (as usual for RSAP), but it all worked out and the day was perfect.  Warm but not hot, and views galore!  Thanks to Rick Valestra for his work as the Activity Coordinator, and Tom Poppitz, First Year Program Director.  Also, many thanks to Alan Cyron and the multitude of parents that went on the hike or were drivers to and from the Preserve.

This Tuesday

Main Troop -   Patrol Leader Swearing-In Ceremony; Order of the Arrow Call-Out; Cycling skills instruction/practice and challenge.

First Year Program – First Year Scouts conduct their first Fitness Test at Blach Middle School starting at 6:15 pm, then back at LAUMC begin their Trail-to-First class requirements.
