Saturday and Sunday was the First Year Program Scout’s first campout with the Troop.  27 First Year Scouts participated in Saturday’s program that included earning their Firem’n Chit and Totin’ Chip, and flag folding, presentation details and etiquette.  They learned to select a good tent site and then erected their tents.  Additionally, they prepared and cooked their own dinner Saturday evening (jambalaya – yum!) and breakfast on Sunday morning.  The weather was great, and everyone had a good time.  Thanks to Andrew Marcopulus, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, for taking charge of and getting the Scouts to each of their stations and running the campfire that included a somber US Flag retirement ceremony; the Troop Guides for their diligence working with their patrols; Tom Poppitz as the Scoutmaster-in-Charge; and Jian Li, the outstanding Activity Coordinator that took care of all the paperwork and driver coordination.  Thanks also to Alan Cyron, Ron Gross, Jun Kim, Matthew Strum, Peter Stanley, and Rahul Phadnis for running the stations and all the outstanding support.  I want to also thank the parents that drove the Scouts to and from Boulder Creek on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  This would not have been the success it was without all of your help, support and patience!

Congratulations to the following Scouts in achieving their respective ranks at last week’s Boards of Review:  Jamieson DeAngelis, First Class; Charlie Border, David Fisher and Alex Vastano, Second Class.  Way to go, Scouts!

This Tuesday

Main Troop -   Final meeting on the Physical Fitness Theme for March:  Three short presentations on Cycling, Hiking and Swimming by Merit Badge Counselors; outdoor activity (soccer, dodge ball or ultimate Frisbee).
