What a glorious weekend to really start the spring (although summer is just over a month away)!  19 Scouts and six adults went to the Pinnacles National Park for hiking and camping.  The weather was clear and warm (later hot!).  The Scouts broke into two hiking crews, one heading to the High Peaks Trail and the other to the Lower Balconies Trail.  Each crew hiked 9 miles, with the High Peaks Trail crew gaining over 1200 feet of elevation within the first few miles.  Thanks to Bryan Webb (SPL), and Jack Crane and Sam Love (Patrol Leaders) for doing a great job of leading the Scouts and managing the campsite and meals.  Also thanks to the adults (uniformed and volunteers) that drove and made the hike with us – Adam Braun, Alan Cyron (plus making a great breakfast for the adults!), Michael Love, Ross Rutner and Matt Sturm.  Many, many thanks to June Zhu as the Activity Coordinator, and Peter Stanley for getting the activity web page up and running.

This Tuesday

Main Troop -   Cooking Safety presentations (knife, cooking, how to handle fresh food), followed by patrols making salsa.  Best salsa get chips to eat their salsa)

First Year Program – Scouts will be working on patrol flags.  The Scouts are getting close to their Scout rank and they should be through those requirements in the next couple of weeks.
