Friday through Saturday, 38 Scouts and eight Webelos Cub Scouts from various Packs participated in and enjoyed the annual Gold Rush Adventure! at Boulder Creek Scout Reservation. The weather was perfect and the 23 different activities offered kept all the Scouts busy throughout the day. There was archery, rope making, flint and steel fire starting, air rifles, fold panning, black powder muzzle loading rifles, candle making, and many, many more. The whole event is a testimony to the many adults throughout different Troops in our council that plan, coordinate and execute GRA! Of the three co-chairs, Brent Browning, Troop 33 ASM and former Scoutmaster, is the primary shaker and mover of this event, and we are very lucky he still provides so much support to our Troop. Many thanks within our Troop go out to Tom Poppitz, Scoutmaster-in-Charge, and Jeanne Schmitt as the Activity Coordinator. Also to Jack Crane as the Scout-in-Charge, and a special thanks to Cameron Jones for conducting an outstanding campfire event on Friday night. Jon Meyer and Matt Sturm provided admirable Scout leadership skills, and Alan Cyron once again proved his superior cooking skills providing breakfasts and dinner for the adults. One Scout, via his parent, reported, “I am never missing this camping trip!’ Well put. NEWS FLASH! Halloween has returned!
