Scoutmaster Update

Chris Webb christopherawebb@comcast

Saturday two Scouts helped out with the Los Altos History Museum’s Train Days.  Sunday, six Scouts went Coyote Valley to shoot clay targets with shotguns.  Thanks to Mr. Browning and Matt Schueren for leading the event, and to Mrs. Schueren for setting it all up as the Activity Coordinator.

Unfortunately, the Wilderness Survival weekend event had to be postponed due to a lack of leadership able to lead the event.  Look for its new date in the future.

Head’s-up!  Next week is our first Court of Honor for the new year.  All Scouts are expected to be in full uniform to include the Merit Badge sash.  This is not an Order of the Arrow event, so the OA sash is not authorized.  Again – shoes, no flip-flops!

THIS Tuesday

Main Troop will be competing in a Patrol Wilderness Shelter Challenge using their Boy Scout knowledge and skills to construct the best water-resistant shelter for a prize. First Year’s continue with achievements toward rank.

Congratulations to the following scouts for their advancement at last week’s Board of Review

Justin Yun justin.yun99@gmail.com

Hello, my name is Justin Yun, the new patrol leader of the Adventure Patrol.

I would like to invite all of you to participate in LAUMC's compassion week. This is a
week in October where the church and other organizations go around performing service
projects to make a difference in others' lives. The Adventure Patrol has decided to
support the church by signing up for events such as the Creek Cleanup on Oct 10th,
McClellan Ranch Invasive Plant Removal on Oct 10th, and Sewing for the World on
Oct 7th. Because the church has offered the troop so much of its resources and rooms,
scouts should try and give back to the community. With multiple service projects to
choose from, I encourage scouts to sign up for events that interest them  quickly as
spots do fill up quickly.  Once again, thank you for supporting the LAUMC.

If you have any questions or have signed up for the activities, please email me at

Reminder: A call for Den-Chiefs!

Mr Blasing rblasing@me.com

Scouts, if you've thought of being a Den-Chief, now is best chance to make it happen!  Our local cub scout leaders are starting to make their requests.  Last year, Troop 33 assigned more than 20 scouts to various local Packs.

If you're not familiar with this Position of Responsibility (PoR), the Den Chief is a significant Leadership position.  As Den Chief, you'll be working closely with the local cub scout Dens and Packs, supporting and helping to organize and lead their activities, setting a good example for the younger scouts, and will be an important factor in recruiting new scouts to our Troop.

In general , anyone who meets the following guideline is a candidate for Den Chief:

- A Boy Scout who has been approved by their Scoutmaster to serve as a Den Chief, is 12 years or older, and ideally 1st class rank or higher.  Den Chief Training (either on-line, classroom, or preferably both) is required.

The Den Chief assignment is intended to span the entire school year.  Please note that we generally restrict Den Chief service to Two Terms, maximum.  That gives other scouts an opportunity, and it encourages past Den Chiefs to pursue other PoR positions within the Troop.

If you are interested in being a Den Chief this year, please contact Mr. Blasing (either at the Troop meetings or by email: rblasing@me.com), to get the ball rolling.  If you were a Den Chief last year, you will need to again receive Scoutmaster approval, and will need to coordinate the assignment through Mr. Blasing.

For questions on an activity or event, contact the activity owner listed. As an activity owner to have your items included in the T33 Weekly blast, please submit them to Sundeep Gupta sundeep.gupta@gmail.com by 5 pm Sunday for the following week’s edition.
