Please Return Troop Gear

The troop has a new quartermaster, Arjun Shivkumar. In order for him to be successful in his job, he needs troop gear returned as soon as possible after a trip.

The troop has several large camping trips over the next two months and if we don’t get gear back, especially tents, we may not have enough for our scouts to camp in. If you have any troop gear you have been planning to return, PLEASE do it at the next meeting!  Look for other messages from Arjun in future weeks about cage clean-out and tent check night.

Sibling-guarantee Deadline

We're in our recruiting season and will soon open applications to outside applicants. The district Open House, Oct. 1st, and our Troop Open House, Oct. 15th, will quickly add to the already high interest in joining our Troop. We have a tradition of giving preference to siblings of our current troop scouts, but we are also committed to capping our enrollment in our First Year program. So we are establishing a "Sibling-guarantee deadline" of Oct 15th.

Please contact Julie Crane (jftcrane@gmail.com) promptly if you have an interested younger sibling because we cannot guarantee a slot after this deadline.

T33 Eagle Court of Honor Coordinator needed

T33 is in need of a new Eagle COH coordinator. This person would help to plan 3 ECOH each year and would work with the parents of the new Eagle Scouts to make the ceremonies special.

Please contact Alan Cyron for more details.

2019 JOTA (Jamboree-on-the-Air), Oct. 19th

Nico Bremeau is helping Los Altos organize "2019 JOTA" (Jamboree-on-the-Air) October 19, 2019. JOTA uses amateur (HAM) radio to link Scouts and hams from our area, the nation, and the world and enables them to talk with each other. It requires no experience and no travel. This event is for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. In 2017 more than 1.5 million scouts participated from more than 160 countries. We're always looking for scouts and parents with HAM experience who can help with the event. If you don't have any experience, please come to have fun and learn all about it. If you’re interested, please send Nico an email (nicolas@bremeau.net)

JOTA Event Details: Visit amateur radio station N6J and talk to other Scouts on the radio! We’ll talk to Scouts in the Bay Area, around the U.S., and maybe in other countries. You can also find

out how to become an amateur radio operator and how to use radio in your crew, troop, or pack.

When: Sat. Oct. 19, 10am - 3pm; drop in anytime

Where: Los Altos Youth Center, 1 North San Antonio Road, Los Altos, CA

Learn More: pacsky.org/Activities/General/JOTA

PS. Nico is also starting a HAM radio/emergency preparedness club at LAHS this fall.
