Whitewater Rafting - September, 2011

In September of 2011, Troop 33 went on a really fun white water rafting trip on the South Fork of the American River. We were pleasantly surprised by the great weather we had.

While there, we didn't just rock some rapids.  We also learned about some of the history of the California Gold Rush and panned for gold since Coloma, were we camped, was a major site during the Gold Rush.

Rafting in Coloma was an awesome experience. The rapids were a class 2-3. Most everyone managed to stay inside the rafts, though we did have one parent lose a shoe and some brave souls jumped out for a swim. There were some major water fight wars between the rafts, too. Our raft guides were great and prepared us for everything that the rafting experience might throw at us.

Our troop had a blast and many wished we could have rafted another day. I can’t wait to do this again. I hope our whole troop can enjoy this experience sometime.
