The Historian works closely with the Webmaster (Adult Volunteer), Communication Coordinator (Adult Volunteer) and Troop Webmaster (Scout) and the Troop Historian (Scout) to manage the preservation of the history of Troop 33’s adult and Scout leadership, activities, awards, pictures, activities and events. The troop uses Google Apps to run the Troop website. It serves as the portal to our Troop website which includes our current information, weekly updates, activities calendar, activities descriptions and sign-ups, Troop history, general Scouting news, documentation and additional information. 


  • Manage Troop’s photo "archive" using Google Photos 
  • After activities and events, collect photos using GooglePhotos, DropBox, thumb drives, or email  
  • Update with thumbnail and link to album 
  • Work with Troop Historian to update the Troop bulletin board in Creekside 
  • Work with Troop Historian to record Troop events, activities, and awards 
  • Work with Troop Historian to regularly update the Home, About, Hall of Fame and Eagles' Nest pages on the Troop's website. Update the various lists on the website periodically (Scoutmasters, Committee Members, Activity Coordinators, changes, coordinators annually, etc.). work with appropriate owner of the list to make updates.

Skills Required

  • Detail oriented (verify correct information, no typos, links checked, etc.) 
  • Strong written communications skills 
  • A bit of marketing in your background or DNA 
  • Knowledge of DropBox and Google Photos
