Here is some background on the various summer activities borrowed from their websites: 

Camp Emerald Bay – http://www.campemeraldbay.org 
Camp Emerald Bay is located in Catalina Island in Southern California. Camp Emerald Bay offers a wide variety of summer opportunities for Boy Scouts all over the world. The camp typically serves over 4500 campers during our 10 week summer. Whether you are taking part in the first year rank advancement program or putting your skills to the test in our rigorous outdoor Rugged Adventurers program, the camp has something to offer any Scout. You will also take part in the traditional Emerald Bay War Canoe, where you will join your troop for an incredible team building overnight experience on secluded Parson's Beach, just an hour's canoe ride away. Camp Emerald Bay is known for their waterfront activities, war canoe, and amazing oceanography programs. 

Camp Oljato – http://www.pacsky.org/Camps/Oljato 
Camp Oljato (pronounced ole-JAY-toe) is located on Huntington Lake in Lakeshore, CA (Fresno County). Pacific Skyline Council camp's property ranges in elevation from 7,000 to just under 8,000 feet. The camp is about 240 miles from the Pacific Skyline Council, San Mateo/Santa Clara area, about 5-6 hours driving time. Camp Oljato is accessible only by pontoon boats which run on a regular schedule during our Scout camping season. Camp Oljato has complete aquatics, nature, handicrafts, and shooting sports areas which are complemented by a highly-rated dining hall and food service team. 

Camp Pico Blanco – http://www.camppicoblanco.org/ 
Located in Monterey County this camp is surrounded by the Los Padres National Forest and the Ventana Wilderness. The camp has a 3 week program during the summer. 

Camp Wente – http://wentescoutreservation.org/ 
Wente Scout Reservation is a Nationally Acredited Boy Scout camp owned and opperated by the San Francisco Bay Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Wente offers at least 58 Merit Badges, with the possibility of more being anounced at camp, as well as many awards to earn and lots of activities to partake in that are just fun. Wente is known for their orienteering course and their Horsemanship and Animal Science programs. 

Camp Whitsett – http://www.campwhitsett.org/ 
As seen on the National Geographic Channel original series Are You Tougher Than A Boy Scout, Camp Whitsett offers over twenty traditional merit badges, mountain biking, hiking, a COPE course and white-water rafting in a program the uniquely balances advancement in scouting with outdoor adventure. Located in the Sequoia National Forest between Bakersfield and Ridgecrest.
